The Program Officer is an integral part of a team that manages projects to promote freedom of expression, religious freedom and tolerance, human rights, and support independent news and information. The Program Officer supports Persian, English, and Arabic language programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in management of project implementation, to include:
Participation in monitoring and evaluation tasks
Working with implementing staff to ensure deliverables and work products are produced in a professional manner and to deadline
Writing and editing project reports
Conducting administrative tasks to include review of invoices, ongoing review and spot-checking of project website content, ensuring project documents are properly reviewed and stored, assistance in contracting vendors and consultants, and other administrative tasks as needed to implement projects.
Conduct research into issues facing Iran and its citizens as needed to assist project implementation
Monitor news and social media output to inform research, news, and reporting duties
Other duties as assigned that advance JFC's mission and project success
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in social sciences, journalism of communications, international development, international relations, area studies, or a related field or equivalent experience
Three years’ experience contributing to international programs, preference for experience managing related programs and working for media or civil society organization
Demonstrated understanding of Iranian and/or Middle East domestic and regional politics
Experience implementing donor-funded programs preferred
Ability to anticipate challenges and solve problems independently
Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, professionalism in written correspondence and report writing, excellent presentation and oral communication skills
Proven organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, including the ability to prioritize
Speaking, reading and writing proficiency in English and Persian strongly preferred with additional Arabic proficiency preferred.
Location: This position may be remote in the US or the UK but requires close communication with offices in London and DC and adherence to deadlines set by those offices and relevant to those time zones.
